Brisbane anonymous groups today (5 November 2013) converged on Brisbane CBD in support of Anonymous and the international November 5 Million Mask March. The march proceeded from Emma Miller Place and traced a circle around the CBD before returning to King George Square for speeches.
In a turnout that surprised some and sent a clear message to Premier Newman that there is ample support for Anonymous in Brisbane, well over 300 people marched the streets drawing looks of curiosity and interest. The protesters sported masks and other costumes, including many a black suited and mask wearing “Anonymous agent”.
Apart from general support for Anonymous, many participants question Newman’s recent ‘bikie’ laws and chanted anti-corporate greed slogans.
200? You must be joking, more like 1,200. I have pictures. Were you really there?
Yes I was there. I took the photos in the link provided. I under-estimated just to be on the safe side (rather than be accused of exaggerating), but my outside estimate would be no more than 500 at the maximum, and probably no more than 350 or so. That’s from counting the people in the photos. Sorry if you don’t agree. I don’t intend to belittle the march and in fact even 200 is an excellent number compared to the usual support rallys in town receive. You guys should be proud of the crowd you gathered. It was a much larger crowd than usual. And I’ve been to a lot of rallys.
I’ve edited the article to “well over 300”. After doing a head count on a couple of photos showing the full expanse of the march, I have concluded 300 is a more reasonable yet still conservative estimate. Thanks for your feedback.
